Only 15 vintages of the Royal Tokaji Red Label 5 puttonyos have been produced since its premier release of the 1990 vintage, 30 years ago. This wine is a blend of carefully selected grapes from several of Royal Tokaji’s first and second growth vineyards.
Fine quality Aszú berries with good flavor, balance and perfect botrytis were macerated in fermenting must for two days. After pressing and finishing fermentation, the wines were filled into 300 and 500 litre Hungarian oak casks in our extensive, deep, underground cellars to mature for over two years. The final blends were carefully crafted in the spring of 2020.
Wine Spectator Review:
A waft of beeswax on the nose transitions on the palate to a pure and lovely beam of poached apricot fruit, accented by dried raspberry, candied ginger, hazelnut biscotti and honeysuckle notes. Fine and creamy on the palate, with a long, lightly mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2030. 1,233 cases imported.
