A microclimate that began over 20 million years ago by tectonic plate movement is nothing short of a miracle. Mountains rose from the sea, rotating clockwise to break free from their plates, creating one of the most defined, transverse ranges on the Pacific Coast. This distinctive feature of the purely East/West maritime mouth funnels cool coastal fog and wind straight to the vines, proving this AVA to be a fascinating cool-climate growing region for Pinot Noir.
The 2021 Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir was harvested over three weeks during an ideal growing season. Brimming with vibrant notes of cranberry, strawberry, and cherry with subtle hints of citrus and understated tannins, this wine has a finesse that leads to an extended finish.
Wine Advocate Review:
Matured for 15 months in 52% new oak, the 2021 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills has a very pretty expression this vintage. The nose features detailed scents of blueberries, strawberries, Earl Grey tea leaves and forest floor, and the medium-bodied palate offers generous, perfumed fruit on a delicate frame, finishing long and layered. Anticipated Maturity: 2023-2030
