The Domaine Henri Boillot Pommard Premier Cru Clos Blanc appears a bright and brilliant red with hints of purple in the glass. A nose of red berries, cherry stone, and violet lead to a wine that is lively but delicate on the palate – deep concentration – smooth and silky tannins – an elegant and fresh long finish.
Pinot Noir from 12 year-old vines. 100% new oak barrels, 36 months drying, 'Vinification intégrale'.
Burghound Review:
This is riper still and there is a touch of prune character to the plummy dark berry fruit scents. The bigger but notably less refined flavors possess a caressing mid-palate that contrasts markedly with the robust and muscular finish that offers very good depth and persistence. While the tannins are firm there is sufficient dry extract to suggest that this could be approached after only 5-ish years. Drink: 2030+
