The Esporao TN appears an intense deep garnet color in the glass. The nose show notes of tobacco, and licorice with hints of black plum and raisins. Rich and opulent on the palate with notes of spices and smoke. Balanced and smooth tannins, an elegant and deep wine.
100% Touriga Nacional aged in new French oak barrels for one year, followed by minimum two years in bottle.
Touriga Nacional is a noble Portuguese grape variety. Produces intense, balanced wines with good ageing potential. This wine is from one of the oldest vineyards of Touriga Nacional in Alentejo – Badeco vineyard in Herdade do Esporão. It represents the singularity of the grape variety and the characteristics of the single vineyard combined with the experience of the ones who take care of the vineyard and the wine.
Wine Spectator Review:
A finely meshed, graceful red, with mulled boysenberry, cured tobacco and apple wood smoke notes that are simultaneously expressive and restrained. Glides across the palate, guided by lightly mouthwatering acidity, with the finish showing fine tannins and mineral accents. Drink now through 2030. 565 cases made, 150 cases imported.
