Domaine de la Galopiere, located in Bligny-les-Beaune, Burgundy, boasts five generations of vignerons. Eusèbe Fournier began his profession as a winegrower in 1882 in Bligny-sous-Beaune, just a couple of kilometers East of Meursault. Louis and Henri were born from his marriage with Fanie Moron. Henri Fournier, the eldest, continues to manage the family estate. Fast forward about 80 years, Gabriel Fournier became both a laborer and a lecturer at the Lycée Viticole and at the CFPPA in Beaune, where he taught oenology for four years. Then, in 1982 (100 years after Eusèbe FOURNIER!), His parents Henri and Gilberte gave him a plot of vines to cultivate in the “Bourgogne Rouge” appellation. Since that date, Gabriel has continued to increase the surface area of the estate, through rental contracts, sharecropping or purchase of vines: Meursault, Meursault “Les Chevalières ”(1983-1984), Ladoix (1989), Aloxe-Corton, Aloxe-Corton 1 er Cru“ Les Valozières ”, Savigny lès Beaune (1993), Pommard (1999), Chassagne-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet 1 er Cru “Clos Saint Jean” (2010), Chassagne-Montrachet 1 er Cru “Morgeot” (2016).
In 1986, Gabriel had the honor and the privilege of cultivating 3 vintages of the famous Hospices de Beaune, until 1994. In 2014, the FOURNIER Gabriel estate became the EARL DOMAINE DE LA GALOPIERE and managed 11 ha of vines in the Côte de Beaune and 35 ha of fields. From his experience and passion, Gabriel sends the job to his son Vincent, eldest of his three children, who, very involved in the Burgundian vineyard, is the 5th generation of vignerons.
