Brillant, pale gold colour with slight green reflections. Powerful nose, with a strong floral and exotic fruity dominance: small white flower, jasmine, lychee. Fresh citrus. The palate is sauve on the attack, with a nice volume. The sweetness is tempered by a saline minerality which gives the wine great elegance. We find fresh floral notes then exotic notes and ginger. A persistent and complex wine, with freshness and minerality.
Château Fortia is located at the heart of the most famous appellation in the southern Rhône Valley, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and it is one of the oldest wine-making estates of the appellation. It’s history dates back to the 18th century when ancient cellars were constructed. The domain has belonged to the same family for four generations. In the early twentieth century, the estate came under the direction of Baron Pierre Le Roy de Boiseaumarié. Baron Le Roy guided the creation of the Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) system which is the basis of French wine laws. Today, the estate is still owned by Baron Le Roy’s grandchildren but since 2016 it is managed by two women passionate about wine. The first, Sandra Rochel, is in charge of the vines and the winemaking process. The second, Anna Olejnik, is in charge of the administrative and commercial aspects of the estate. Together, they continue to develop excellence and preserve the Fortia tradition and spirit.
Falstaff Review:
Light greenish yellow, silver reflections. Fresh meadow herbs, a touch of walnut, yellow pear fruit background, nuances of lime blossom. Juicy, white stone fruit nuances, fine acidity, delicate apple finish, harmonious, offers uncomplicated drinking pleasure.
