Made exclusively from grapes of the native Sagrantino, this wine combines perfectly aromatic expressiveness and structural elegance. Of great character and personality, it gives its best with a perfect aging period.
Vinous Review:
A deep and darkly alluring mix of dried violets, lavender and black currants wafts up from the 2017 Montefalco Sagrantino. Its velvety textures flow across a core of vibrant acidity, as mocha-tinged red and black fruits give way to a staining of fine tannins and salty minerals. A bitter crunch lingers through the long and structured finale, wrapping the perimeters of the palate in youthful poise, as hints of dark chocolate slowly fade. I’m finding a lot to like about the 2017 Sagrantino, but its tannins come across as a bit underripe in this vintage.
