The Il Monticello Groppolo Colli di Luni Vermentino appears a bright and intense straw yellow color in the glass. It is fermented at a low temperature and aged in stainless steel tanks. It exudes intense aromas of white and yellow-fleshed fruits, ripe citrus with floral notes. Characterized by a marked but elegant acidity.
Excellent as aperitif, white meat and fish; It’s recommended with Mediterranean dishes as anchovy tarts, spaghetti with clams, stuffed vegetables.
The Azienda Agricola Il Monticello was founded in 1982 when Pier Luigi Neri, inherited a 19th-century house and a plot of land on the hills towering Sarzana, just in front of the sea. In 1994 the sons, Alessandro and Davide, with an intense appreciation and commitment to respect and regenerate the truly unique Ligurian microclimate, introduced their father's 12 hectares of vineyards to organic and biodynamic farming.
100% Vermentino. Carefully selected 'Groppolo' grapes are grown on 5 - 30 year old vines, on a South-Southwest hillside above Sarzana at an altitude between 100 - 120 meters above sea level. Silty, sandy, structured clay and a Mediterranean microclimate without significant temperature variation, producing evenly ripened high quality grapes.
3 Separate Macerations: Whole Cluster Press, Carbonic & Skin Contact. Fermented Separately. Blend depends on vintage.
