This is special because it actually embodies the notion of "baby Barolo" in that this Nebbiolo truly has the qualities of Barolo but on a smaller less expensive scale. The concept is "tar & roses" and you can taste that here. This wine is light and earthy and a great example of what Piemontese Nebbiolo is supposed to be.
Versatile and young, this wine has refreshing acidity and soft tannins. Deep ruby red color with garnet reflections. On the nose, aromas of red fruit, blackberry, plum and licorice with hints of vanilla and leather. On the palate, full-bodied, with intense flavors of cherry, raspberry and spice culminating in a long and smooth finish.
Outstanding with red meat, game and hard cheeses.
100% Nebbiolo. Grapes are crushed and macerated for about 12-14 days in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. The wine ages 4 months in stainless steel tanks, and is then aged 10 months in used Slavonian oak casks.
