The perfect springtime rosé on sale this weekend
Deep and dense ruby red, violet shaded when young. The typical red fruit of the Montepulciano, particularly rich and mature, is well balanced with the wide spicy flavors ranging from black pepper and liquorice to balsamic, chocolate and tobacco hints. Full volume, silky and mature tannins texture. Round and velvety with a long lasting finish.
This wine perfectly matches a great steak or a baked lamb with wild mountain herbs.
It has the old, intriguing name of the area where our vineyard is planted (in the Abruzzo dialect “coccia pazza” means “crazy head”), as it is intended to be the best traditional expression of the Montepulciano in our land. The repeated harvests, in general three per vintage, are carried out in the plot with the best soil and climate conditions, able to give the fullest bodied and mature wines.
Aged for 20 months in French oak barriques.
Wine Advocate Review:
The organic Torre dei Beati 2019 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Cocciapazza has a punchy and bright quality of fruit with lots of sweet cherry and candied blueberry. This is unlike many of the other Montepulciano d'Abruzzo wines on the market today thanks to that extra ping of energy that shines from the bouquet. You do get more oak sensations in the mouth, however, with special emphasis on cinnamon and nutmeg. Using the pergola abruzzese system, these vines were planted in 1972 over nine hectares. Some 12,000 bottles were made. Anticipated Maturity: 2022-2027
