Product Details
Distilled in the rich, natural, environment of Tottori and aged in Mizunara Japanese oak casks. Aromas of candied pineapple, palo santo, and sweet cedar transition to a silky palate bursting with stone fruit—peaches, plums, and mangos—and toasted cereal grain on a long finish of pineapple fiber, apricot, and white tea. The use of coveted Mizunara oak casks during aging lends incredible depth to Matsui’s round and fruity style of single malt with harmonious notes of subtle baking spice and tropical fruit.
Single malt whiskey distilled and aged by Matsui Whisky in Tottori, Japan. Double distilled in Japanese copper pot stills at Matsui’s Kurayoshi Distillery. Rested in Mizunara oak casks. Proofed with the soft groundwater of Tottori Prefecture’s Mount Daisen.
Whisky Advocate Review:
Very pale, fresh whisky, with lychee, fresh pear, morning dew, apple notes, and just a dash of salt and white pepper. It's a honeyed and thick dram on the palate, with caramelized apples and tangerine, then late bittersweet citrus that attempts to dampen down the jackhammer of pepper. Enjoyable weight, texture, and flavors, but the mizunara signature notes are a little subtle and underplayed. (3,972 bottles)
