The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate, from Staglin’s home Rutherford property, is bright and aromatically lifted, with a slightly redder expression of fruit and more floral overtones. A wine with lovely inner sweetness, finesse and aromatics, the Estate peaks to polish above all else. Historically, this wine has developed very well in bottle. I expect that will be the case here as well.
81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot aged for 20 months in 100% French oak, 87% new and 13% used.
Wine Advocate Review:
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate has a very pretty nose of fragrant earth, red and black currants, black plums and underbrush with hints of cigar box and pencil lead. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the mouth with expressive earth and black fruit flavors, supported by a seamless backbone of ripe tannins and great freshness, finishing long. Anticipated Maturity: 2017-2029
