The wine has inviting aromas of spicy pear, marzipan, lemon drop candy, peach pie and pineapple. As a cool-climate Chardonnay, there’s a refreshing acidity on the finish giving the wine great poise, balance and energy.
Building on the belief that great wines capture the essence of great vineyards, for three decades Patz & Hall has been seeking out the very best small, family-owned Chardonnay vineyards in California. Over the years, this exploration has taken us ever-further west as the Sonoma Coast has emerged as California’s preeminent winegrowing regions for Burgundian varietals. Incorporating grapes from such renowned vineyards as Gap’s Crown, Sanchietti Vineyard, Zio Tony Ranch, Dutton Ranch, Parmelee-Hill Vineyard and Durell Vineyard, this wine spotlights the structure and sophistication of its cool-climate origins, with the unmistakable purity of fruit and elegant acidity that defines exceptional Sonoma Coast Chardonnay.
100% Chardonnay fruit, 100% whole cluster pressed. 28% new Burgundian French oak barrels, aged for 9 months.
Wine Enthusiast Review:
This harmonious and well-balanced wine opens with light butter, toast and Bartlett pear aromas, then fills the mouth with rich pear and peach flavors accented by vanilla. A full body is nicely paired with good acidity, so the wine works fine as a cocktail or with lunch and dinner. -J.G.
