A charming Rosé made from Cycladic Fokiano grapes. Intense fresh summer fruits on the nose, sweet mature fruits in the mouth and a delicate unique aftertaste.
Based on the island of Syros, just west of Mykonos, the Ousyra Winery creates wines from organically farmed rare Cycladic grape varieties, focusing on ungrafted vineyards.
Decanter Review:
An orange spark in a glass, the colour of this wine from local ungrafted Fokiano grapes is irresistible. Expressive aromas of dried and fresh flowers, late summer camomile and ripe strawberries. Pleasingly polished and fresh, this pairs well with gently spiced recipes such as Cajun crab and reveals its subtle spicy dimensions with judicious decanting. Fokiano without question is a headline grape to look out for in future for top quality Greek rosé – and rare too, coming back from the near brink of extinction.
