The Domaine Michel Niellon Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Les Chaumees - Clos de la Truffuere appears a golden lemon yellow color in the glass. Aromas of fresh fruit, subtle florals and a bit of petrol lead to a mineral-driven with yellow and white fruit and a slightly sappy character.
Grapes fermented in stainless steel tanks and near the end of fermentation, the wine is transferred to small oak barrels to ferment dry and complete malolactic fermentation during barrel aging. Batônnage is used sparingly as the wines of Chassagne are already rich.

Beautifully layered aromas of smoky pear, spice and a lovely array of white orchard fruit nuances are trimmed in hint of just sliced citrus. I very much like the texture and vibrancy of the slightly bigger-bodied yet more refined flavors that display excellent length on the balanced, clean, dry and impressively long finish. This is excellent and a wine that always repays extended keeping and the 2022 version should be no exception. Sweet Spot Outstanding Drink: 2030+
