The Corte dei Venti Le Terre Rosse appears an intense and brillant ruby red color with luminous violets reflexes in the glass. The nose reveals strong notes of mature red fruits, with clove and dark chocolate followed by a round, warm palate with good acidity, and long persistence of taste.
Corte dei Venti has taken the typical Tuscan red blend and turned it into fine wine. While the blend is comprised of Sangiovese and an array of French varietals, the real magic takes place in the vineyard. That’s why they call the wine “le terre rosse” or “the red lands.”
The vineyards are characterized by hilly soils with steep slopes of varying degrees. The soils have a red color which is unique for a vineyard in Montalcino. Rich in ferrous calcareous clay and well endowed with minerals that are influenced by the winds coming from the sea. It’s the constant sea winds that guarantee a prolonged and optimal ripening of the grapes.
60% Sangiovese, 30% Syrah, 10% Merlot
After a careful hand-harvest and hand selection of ripe grapes from the estate vineyards, the grapes are carried back to the cellar in small crates to avoid premature fermentation. The wine is aged in steel vats for 18 months.
