The Condado de Haza Ribera del Duero Crianza appears clean and brilliant in the glass with an attractive black cherry color and purple undertones. The nose has quite intense aromatics revealing ripe red berry and black fruits. Liquorice notes, typical of the Tempranillo variety, also come through. Sweet, roasted coffee bean aromas follow with hints of vanilla and touches of spice. Fleshy, silky entry on the palate with perfectly integrated acidity and very pleasant, gentle tannins. Black fruit flavors in the finish with blackberry in particular. The oak is very nicely integrated, expressing notes of toast and vanilla, characteristic of a wine aged in American oak barrels. A medium to long finish.
This wine will offer optimal enjoyment as from its time of purchase. Ideal for accompanying all kinds of meat, grilled meats, roast lamb, suckling pig, casseroles and Ideal with roast lamb, lamb chops, oxtail, sucking pig and mature cheese.
One of Spain's first château-style wineries, with all of its vineyards surrounding the winery, Condado de Haza focuses on sustainable farming practices with a special emphasis on preserving the regional biodiversity.
The wine was aged 14 months in American oak barrels and in bottle until its release onto the market.
Wine Spectator Review:
Shows a nose of fragrant, appealing smoke and grilled herb notes, which are a subtle overtone for flavors of black raspberry, violet, black olive and ground anise and white pepper. Fresh and well-balanced, with lightly chalky tannins firming the finish. Drink now through 2028. 2,500 cases imported.
