The 2015 vintage displays a brilliant, limpid deep garnet color with purple highlights. This expressive Saint-Julien is bursting with aromas of red and black fruit. Upon aeration, these enticing aromas intensify, revealing crème de cassis accompanied by lush, toasted notes. Powerful, plump, and generous, the tannic structure gives way to a singular freshness that brings a lot of elegance, characteristic of a great Saint-Julien. Dense ripe black fruit echoes through to the finish, accented by a hint of vanilla. This beautiful vintage shows magnificent complexity, placing it among the great vintages of the estate.
Nothing tells a greater story than a bottle of wine. The vines take root in the soils providing the immutable backdrop, endowing the wines with their unique qualities. Léoville Poyferré is anchored in one of the most intimate appellations of the Médoc: Saint-Julien.
65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc
Wine Advocate Review:
The 2015 Leoville Poyferre is deep garnet-purple colored with a nose of grilled meats, baked plums, crème de cassis and baker's chocolate with nuances of dusty soil and iron ore plus a hint of bay leaves. Medium to full-bodied, very firm and muscular in the mouth, it is built like a brick house with a mineral-tinged finish. Anticipated Maturity: 2021-2038
