Geographically, between Tin Box and Harbison is the Tench Vineyard, where we get both the EE and Tench Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2014 EE is the most opulent EE, since the 2008. It is ripe and round with amazing depth of flavor. It is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc and 5% of both Merlot and Petit Verdot. The Cabernet Sauvignon gives it big fruit flavors, the Cabernet Franc complexity, the Merlot a kiss of cocoa and the Petit Verdot a dash of minerality.
Wine Advocate Review:
Absolutely perfect is the incredible blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Cabernet Franc – the 2014 Proprietary Red EE. Only 220 cases were made of this wine that was aged in equal parts Taransaud and Darnajou. It has a compelling fragrance of spring flowers, blackberry and cassis, graphite, licorice and truffle. The wine has incredible length, density, full body and superb finish of close to 50+ seconds. It is a big, super-complex wine already, and should continue to offer off-the-charts drinking pleasure for another 15 or more years. Anticipated Maturity: 2016-2031
