Product Details
The color is a very deep scarlet with an amaranth hue. The wine has a lifted bouquet of white pepper, black cherries, cedar and spice, with notes of fresh cut tobacco. The integrated palate is driven with fruit flavors of plums, black currants, mulberries, and blackberries, carrying undertones of French oak, fennel seed and black pepper.
Pairs very well with slow-cooked brisket, grilled lamb, grass fed beef or a hearty beef stew, and, of course, steak.
Fruit is picked from our own Biscay Road vineyard in the heart of the Barossa Valley. Once in the winery every care was taken during ferment in open top fermenters to give the wine maximum time on skins to extract the depth of flavor and color that this wine exhibits. The wine is aged in new and seasoned American oak until bottling. It is ready to drink now and will also continue to reward the patient for the next 8 – 10 years.
