The Balvenie DoubleWood single malt whisky gains its distinctive character from being matured in two different wood types. Each stage lends different qualities to the resulting single-malt whisky.

The traditional casks soften and add delicate character, the sherry wood brings depth and fullness of flavor and the final few months in our tuns allow the whiskies to marry harmoniously.

Balvenie’s classic was first launched in 1993. Aged in bourbon barrels for at least 12 years and finished in European oak sherry casks for 9 months, then the individual casks are transferred to large tuns to marry for 3-4 months. Dry on the nose, with pleasant aromas of citrus and a hint of soapiness and waxiness. Full-flavored on the palate with deep notes of chocolate and brown sugar accented by pepper spice.
