Umbria is a land of strong, distinctive flavors. The incomparable aromas of its wines stem from a tradition going back to the Middle Ages. The first Sagrantino and Grechetto vines were planted by Franciscan friars in fact. It was in their cloisters that the secrets of the winemaking art were handed down. The wines were scrupulously cellared to preserve the utmost quality and genuineness. Secrecy was such that the vineyards were nicknamed “La Custodia”, and we are still in fact custodians of secrets enabling us to create wines of exquisite, antique flavor.
