The Sarah’s Vineyard Tondré Grapefield Pinot Noir has delicate bright and dark red fruit and spices with a lovely floral bouquet in the glass. On the palate, the rich raspberry, cassis, blueberry, and plum fruits are complemented by pastry crust, baking spice, and a hint of vanilla with smooth, silky tannins. This delightful Pinot Noir pairs wonderfully with mushroom risotto.
Tondré Alarid established a vineyard on his family’s historic ranch in Monterey’s Santa Lucia Highlands. In the hands of his son Joe Alarid, the estate has become one of the S.L.H.’s best known properties. Literally next door to famed Garys’ Vineyard, Tondre shares the same well-drained hillside soils and crop-limiting afternoon fog and cool winds from nearby Monterey Bay. The combination of a perfect site and meticulous farming makes for truly great Pinot Noir.
Wine Spectator Review:
Toasty and ripe, with a long beam of cassis and plum notes that keep center stage, while red licorice, red tea and singed vanilla threads are inlaid throughout. A crowd-pleaser. Drink now through 2025. 275 cases made.
