The Michele Chiarlo Le Marne Gavi appears a straw yellow color with bright green hues in the glass. This elegant wine offers notes of golden apple, lemon, acacia flower, and bread crust. The finish is long and savory.
Pair with grilled fish, sushi, or meat carpaccio.
The Cortese grapes are selected from vineyards of clay marl soil rich in iron located on high hills near the town of Gavi. The sea breezes from the Ligurian Sea and cool mountain winds from the Apennine Mountains create a micro-climate ideal for growing Cortese grapes to optimal ripeness. The grapes are pressed without crushing and the must is cold settled before undergoing a low-temperature fermentation using indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged for 3 to 4 months on the lees in stainless steel tanks before bottling.
