Both fresh and exotic, the Maxem Chardonnay has a sense of focus and intensity. The wine is rich and plush, but with flinty and lime zest tones for balance. Pineapple, honeysuckle, citrus aromatics and white peach are present in this medium to full-bodied wine; lively with vibrant acidity and a crystal clean finish.
Wine Advocate Review:
The 2021 Chardonnay UV Vineyard, matured for 15 months in Remond and Taransaud oak barrels, takes significant time in the glass to unfold, revealing pure peach, quince and accents of graham cracker, beeswax, matchstick and floral perfume. The light-bodied palate combines a plush, satiny texture with shimmery acidity. Its mineral-driven fruit seems to blossom with every sip, and it will require several years in bottle to really unfold. 160 cases were made. Anticipated Maturity: 2026-2036
