The Clos les Montys “Vines from 1914”, has a pale white colour with greenish hues. It offers a clear and deep nose with almond and white fruits armas followed by a full-bodied, and persistant taste. Its mouth is fresh and elegant with a great mineral tension finishing on salty notes.
Clos les Montys dominates the marshland of Goulaine, it is located on a ridge on a north-south axis. The soil is sandy-silty and rocky, strewed with sandstone. In the northern part, the soil is very superficial, almost non-existent, and luckily it is in these very rough conditions that are found the oldest vines – planted in 1926, 1922, 1917, and 1914.
Wine Advocate Review:
The 2021 Clos les Montys Vignes de 1914 derives from old vines, some of which were planted in 1914, on a mix of altered amphibolite and gabbro. Evoking aromas of iodine, pear, flowers and lemon with maritime notes, it’s tense and bright with a salty, tense texture and a mouthwatering finish. This is an energetic, salty Muscadet. Anticipated Maturity: 2023-2027
