From the founding of Fattoria il Coroncino in 1981, Lucio Canestrari has found unparalleled success by focusing his efforts on a single grape variety, Verdicchio. The winery is located in Staffolo, an area which benefits from a special microclimate and particular quality of soil, and the family owns two vineyards, one at Spescia di Cupramontana, in the heart of the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico zone, the other at Coroncino, where the winery is located.
No oak whatsoever is used and Il Coroncino consistently produces broad, complex wines with structure, elegance and enviable softness. “Il Bacco” is their basic Verdicchio, produced entirely from estate vineyards in and around Staffolo; it is made in a full-bodied, uncompromising style, full-bodied, almost creamy on the palate, with soft peach notes, finishing with a briny, almost umami note.
