The “Classic” has a distinctive floral component and is a pretty wine, at the same time, it captures the power and spice you expect from a classic Châteauneuf. The vines average 50 years-old and are grown in a sandy loam and clay soil. The blend is 75% Grenache aged in concrete, 15% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre aged in barrels. Aged for 18 months.
The domaine follows organic agriculture for all work in the vineyards and has been certified from the 2008 vintage. No chemical fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides are used to treat the soils or the vines. Ploughing and weeding are practiced according to the blocks and the yields desired. Vines are treated with copper sulphate and sulphur occasionally blended with a nettle infusion/tea (four to five times a year). Only organic fertilizer (i.e., sheep manure) is used.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines are aged in concrete vats and barrels for a minimum of 18 months.

Crafted from vines planted on sandy soils, the 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape from Domaine de Cristia has a vibrant, elegant bouquet of dark cherries, berries, rose, violet and lilac mingled with fresh thyme notes. Medium to full-bodied, pure and clean, it has an ample and fleshy core of fruit, suave texture and polished tannins. Comprising 85% Grenache Noir and 15% Syrah and matured for 18 months in both wooden and concrete tanks, this authentic Chateauneuf-du-Pape is worth seeking out. Anticipated Maturity: 2024-2044
