Deep, bright-rimmed magenta. Bright and energetic on the fragrant nose, displaying intense black/blue fruit and floral scents that pick up olive and cracked pepper notes as the wine stretches out. In a juicy, fruit-driven style, offering appealingly sweet cherry, blueberry flavors, suggestions of spicecake, licorice and cola. Finishes very long and smooth, with just a hint of fine-grained tannins and resonating spiciness.
100% Syrah. The name of this wine, "30", references the gradient slope of the vineyard.
Wine Advocate Review:
Consumers loath to explore Cornas because of ever-increasing prices should consider Vincent Paris's 2020 Cornas Granit 30 when it is released. Hints of violets, crushed stone, licorice and cassis all appear on the nose of Paris's entry-level cuvée, providing ample complexity. A strong effort, it's full-bodied, ripe and silky in texture, with a lingering finish. It may not be classic, put-hair-on-your-chest rustic Cornas, but it's a delicious mouthful of Syrah that's true to its granitic origins. Anticipated Maturity: 2023-2032
