The Domaine Michel Niellon Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Clos de la Maltroie appears a golden lemon yellow color in the glass. Succulent aromas of juicy peach, fresh pears, exotic fruits and bright citrus lead to concentrated flavors on the palate with great vibrancy and a lemon zest finish. Slightly firmer than the Champsgains.
Grapes fermented in stainless steel tanks and near the end of fermentation, the wine is transferred to small oak barrels to ferment dry and complete malolactic fermentation during barrel aging. Batônnage is used sparingly as the wines of Chassagne are already rich.
Wine Advocate Review:
Aromas of pear, beeswax, toasted nuts, white flowers and youthful reduction introduce the 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Maltroie, a medium to full-bodied, lively and tightly wound young wine built around bright acids and chalky extract. Anticipated Maturity: 2021-2040
