The Neuchâtel Blanc, which is light in color with an aroma of lime, is a light fruity wine with just a hint of a sparkle due to its maturing on lees.
This is a cheerful wine. Just the thing for aperitifs. It goes well with grilled or boiled fish as well as with seafood. Perfect with cheese, it rounds off the evening on a joyful note.
Château d'Auvernier is perched on the shores of Lake Neuchâtel, Switzerland, cultivating 60 hectares of vineyard of light to medium limestone soil. Geologically similar to the French Burgundian terroir, although located a little further south, it benefits from the proximity of the lake, which moderates temperatures, compensating for the higher altitude of around 100 meters compared to its French cousin. Château d’Auvernier is a family wine business that was founded in 1603. The current owner, Thierry Grosjean represents the 14th generation; his son Henry is taking over.
The Chasselas Fendant Roux is of Oriental origin and was brought back to Switzerland by the Crusaders. The grapes are harvested by hand. After being carefully cleaned, yeast is added to the must, then it is fermented at a carefully regulated temperature of about 18°C. The maturing of this wine on fine lees at a low temperature enables us to preserve its slightly sparkling character on the tongue.
