Lifted dark berries, spices, nutmeg, plums, flowers. Great second wine from a top property with concentration and depth sufficient to warrant its own classification. With a rich and complex nose, this wine is dense but with juicy fresh fruit in a compact profile with a long lingering finish. Excellent wine which will offer great value.
77% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc
The Goulée vineyard in the northern part of the Médoc where the fruit is sourced for this wine, near the mouth of the Gironde Estuary, is in a prime location. A cool microclimate and natural ventilation due to the nearby ocean are conducive to making fresh, fruity wines. As part of an ongoing quest for excellence, a replanting and top grafting programme has been undertaken over the past several years. The soil is regularly ploughed and sustainable methods are used to grow top-quality grapes.
