The Barbadillo Manzanilla Solear has intense and bright in appearance in the glass. Pale straw color with attractive highlights. The nose is pungent and clean with intensity and finesse from the prolonged ageing under flor. Reminiscent of the sea with saline and iodine notes. Extraordinarily dry on the palate but with a smooth and harmonious finish. Subtle salinity and a lingering flavor.
A standard-bearer for the entire manzanilla category worldwide, the iconic Solear bottling issues from a 12,000-cask solera housed in various historic bodegas around Sanlucar de Barrameda after aging for an average of six years.
Founded in 1821 in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Bodegas Barbadillo is now in the hands of the seventh-generation descendants of the founder, making it one of the oldest privately-held companies in any sector in Spain. The firm boasts 500 hectares of vineyards split between two farms, Santa Lucía and Gibalbín, both located in the Jerez Superior viticultural zone. They mature some 31,800 casks of wine in seventeen different bodegas, most of which are located in the Barrio Alto, the most privileged district of Sanlúcar for aging wine.
